Group Training at the Y


The WOW program in the updated portion of the downtown Y's Women's Only section has been extended. The 45 minute class is great for individuals 35+ looking for a safe and effective strength and cardio format. The new strength equipment is specifically designed for women.

Time: 1:15pm - 2:00pm

Exercise and Shower in Under an Hour
Tips based on the latest research.

  • Give yourself at least 10 minutes of any warm-up exercise including light Cardio choices or a round of light weights.
  • Add 10 minutes of active or dynamic stretching before you go into your Cardio or strength training routine.
  • Leave 15-20 minutes of static stretching for the end of your workout.
  • Be active for at least 60 minutes each day
  • Eat less junk food and more fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and various types of protein.
  • Choose fruit over juices. Drink as much water as possible.
  • Have a light snack (eg: 1/2 cup of blueberries) 30 minutes before bed to help keep your metabolism working while you sleep.
  • You can have your cake and eat it too after you exercise

    The three C's of any successful fitness regime include Commitment, Convenience and Consistency. Take the 21 day challenge. It takes at least this long for both your body and mind to mentally adapt to a new habit.
